I’m so excited to finally show off my new mud room. Although I will give you the disclaimer that I still have to make the cushion for the bench… but that’s not going to happen for another week or so. I’m also excited to talk about how I keep our lovely new mud room smelling fresh and clean. I’ll give you a hint… you can find them at Walmart, they’re super cute, and they come in some yummy fragrances.
That’s right! I’m talking about the Yankee Candle® brand Car Jars. They’re small, super cute AND the fragrances are amazing! I love to use them in small spaces throughout the house where we can’t have a candle burning. My favorite places to use them are the laundry room, closets and even Blaire’s room! They’re the perfect size to tuck into the corner of a window or behind a picture frame. BUT, they’re so cute, you may want them out on display. I use Clean Cotton in the laundry room, Macintosh Apple in Blaire’s Room AND my car and Midsummer’s Night in Jason’s car. As for the Pumpkin Apple Harvest and the Banana Walnut Bread Candles? You can find them burning in my kitchen right now. ;)
Like I said, they are small enough to tuck behind a picture frame. We keep Blaire’s diaper pail next to her dresser, so a strong fragrance is a must to keep her room smelling good. Yankee Candle® brand Car Jars come in four awesome fragrances and you can find them in the Home Fragrance or Car Fragrance sections of Walmart stores, or online here. At less than $5 each, they’re a great deal for such a cute, powerful little fragrance jar.
Okay, so with out further ado… the Before and After shots of my mud room. Please excuse my terrible “Before” photo. We really just used these shelves for random storage. Blaire loves hanging out in the new mud room with me when I’m doing laundry. I can get a lot more laundry done when she’s sitting there reading a book, than if she’s throwing things out of the dryer and I’m putting them in. She’s also pretty good at climbing up on the bench to let me put her shoes on her before we leave. It’s SO nice to have organization in the busiest area of our home. I love that we can keep lots of random things in the baskets and it still looks tidy. The white wood also inspired me to begin painting all of the wood in our house white. So far I’ve only accomplished the laundry room… it’s not nearly as quick or easy as I thought it would be. But it looks good! I love how white wood instantly updates a room.
What do you think? Do you like built ins for our mud room? Please don’t tell me you prefer the shelves from the before picture… ;) Wish me luck with my DIY seat cushion. I can’t wait to go pick out fabric next weekend! Have a great week! xo
