Does anything scream fall more than pumpkin patches and apple picking? It’s funny what a difference one weekend can make! We went to our usual pumpkin patch, that we’ve gone to since Jason and I started dating, the last weekend of September. It was high-70s/low-80s, so it didn’t feel much like fall. This last weekend, the first of October, we went to a new pumpkin patch and then the apple orchard. It was mid-60s and it. was. perfect. AND we’ve found a new favorite pumpkin patch! There were lots of animals, tons of pumpkins AND it’s super close to the apple orchard. We’re lucky to live somewhere so close to so many fun things.
I am so, so excited to finally share our exciting news! We are expecting baby no. 2! We are so excited/happy/nervous for Blaire to become a big sister. She talks about the baby every day… including telling us that the baby in her belly is making her tummy hurt. (Maybe I shouldn’t have tried to explain my “morning” sickness to her?! lol.) We have been praying for baby 2 for quite awhile now, so we feel incredibly blessed it’s finally happening. God’s timing is the best!
We had some new family pictures taken in May and they’re the best! They capture Blaire’s little personality perfectly. This stage of our life is so fun. Blaire has so much fun with her mom and dad. I’m loving this time when she thinks we are super cool! ;) We are lucky to have a photographer who is so amazing with children. She kept telling Blaire, “don’t laugh!” and, of course, Blaire would crack up laughing! She loved being the center of attention and was happy to run around for the camera… until she noticed the dandelions. Then she had to pick them all!
Life has been CRAZY the past few weeks. We’ve had so much going on, I haven’t have much time to do anything (including our laundry). July is more than half way through and I. can’t. believe. it. It’s insane! If you follow me on Insta, then you know we fed giraffes on Father’s Day. We did our usual thing for the 4th of July. Fireworks in our city on the 3rd. Our favorite street festival on the 4th, followed by fireworks on the golf course. And bounce houses. So many bounce houses. I have about 15 half-written blog posts and I’ve been lacking in the motivation department. So, instead I’ll just share some of my favorite pictures from the past few weeks.
Being a mom has less hard days when your husband happens to be an amazing dad. Someone who has more patience than you. Someone who is selfless and hard-working. Someone who would do anything for the people he loves. And I’m lucky to have married that kind of someone.
Jason works 50+ hours a week, but still shows up for every thing… Doctor’s appointments, dance class, swim lessons. He does the dishes, packs up diaper bags, picks up toys, cooks lots of meals (because cooking meat isn’t my thing), he’s always up for folding laundry, he reads a mean bedtime story and he’s just the perfect reminder that good, caring people do still exist in the world. And as a dad, he’s making sure Blaire grows up to be one of those people. Plus, he gave her those beautiful blue eyes. ;)
Sometimes, when mama doesn’t feel well, it means PJs, popcorn and Paw Patrol in bed at 5PM. And sometimes, your toddler, who you still consider to be your little baby, is just so, so adorable. And that makes you realize you don’t care how terrible you feel. You just have to take some pictures and capture these sweet, sweet moments. Tonight was one of those nights. I felt terrible all day, but had back-to-back meetings most of the day, so I had to tough it out. But, you bet the moment we got home, we changed into our PJs and jumped in bed with some popcorn.
Our weather has been perfect the past few weeks. We’ve spent weekends outside, at the pool and grilling. I think it helps Blaire (which helps us!) fall asleep faster every night. But, with the warmer temps come bugs and sun. And with all of the posts you see calling out the scary ingredients in everything these days, anytime I see something that’s natural and has good reviews, I have to try it.
