My baby is three! HOW?! Time has flown by. It seems like just yesterday we were bringing home our little blue-eyed, red-haired, three-day-old baby from the hospital. And now… here she is. Three years old, singing and dancing in the living room in her Princess Sofia dress-up shoes and her Doc McStuffins stethoscope.
Favorite Words/Things to Say: Oh goodness. She can say just about anything these days. She likes to give check-ups like Doc McStuffins. She will tell you to take deep breath about 7x and then will tell you good job! She likes to sing the Doc McStuffins song while she checks your ears and eyes… lol. A few phrases she says all the time: Where are you, mom?; Come here for just a second.; Mama, is the baby sleeping in there?
Since Blaire turned two at the end of February she has been learning so. many. words. Prior to turning two, she wasn’t using many phrases, but lately she’s been putting all kinds of words together. This stage of life is so much fun! She’s learning new words every day and is (obviously) communicating more with us than ever before.
I can only start this post by saying these past two years have been a whirlwind. It’s true what they say about motherhood… the days are long, but the years are short. It seems like just a few months ago we brought Blaire home from the hospital. We were still in shock someone trusted us to care for and raise a helpless, precious little baby. Fast forward two years and she is the sweetest, funniest, sassiest little thing. We never have a dull moment around here and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Favorite Words: Treat, Snack, Drink (lots of food related ones here!), baby, meow, Brylee, I do, walk, duck, mommy, choo choo, counting to 6 and singing the ABCs (both with help!)
Favorite Things: She still spends most of her time playing with her babies. Lately she really loves changing their diapers and clothes. She’s constantly pushing them around in the strollers or the shopping cart. And also loves to put them in the high chair and crib. This last week, Frozen was on TV so I recorded it. She loves watching it, but mostly loves dancing to the songs. She’s always dancing around, singing. I love her sassiness! She is also really loving church. She loves singing along and loves to put the kneelers up and down by herself, and likes to stand on them so she can easily see the priest. She also loves dressing herself and loves to pick out her own clothes. She is also very interested in what mama is wearing.
Favorite Foods: Pizza, french fries, rice, blueberries, strawberries, carrots & mac and cheese
Biggest Milestone: She is back to putting herself to sleep every night. She still ends up in our bed eventually during the night. But like I’ve said before, that’s fine with this mama! She is also using the potty quite a bit. She is getting really good at telling us before she has to go.
Biggest Challenge: Listening. At times she listens well, other times she just doesn’t care what you want her to do. I am not the most patient, so it’s hard for me to not get annoyed when she runs away from me while we’re in a store or during church. I think it’s also her trying to be more independent. So she’s teaching me patience, I’m teaching her how important it is to stay with mama/daddy while we’re out.
My Favorite Part of This Stage: I love how much she wants to mimic the people she looks up to. Whether it’s trying to wear a scarf like me or trying to stand just like her daddy — She is always watching, observing. I also love how caring and sweet she is. She loves to give kisses and hugs.
Looking Forward To: Since it’s still pretty cold here, we are going to start tumbling and toddler ballet classes to help get out some of that extra energy. I can’t wait for trips to the parks and running around the backyard! Also looking forward to her 2 year well check and her first hair cut!!
These past two years have just flown by. I never knew what true love and joy were until the moment we met you, Blaire. I never dreamed that I could be so proud or in awe of someone. Each day you amaze us with something new. I spend every day being nostalgic about how much my baby has grown, but also with such an excitement for the future that’s still ahead of us. Happy Birthday, Blaire Elizabeth. We love you so, so much. xo
Someone pinch me, my baby is almost two yeas old! It seems like just yesterday I saw her sweet, helpless, little face for the first time. And now here is she, 23 months later. Full of sass, eating all my snacks and trying to tell me which shoes to wear.
Favorite Things: She loves “singing along” to the ABCs and she’s still obsessed with Minnie Mouse. She loves putting on her own pants and boots. Since it’s the middle of winter, we spend the majority of our free time hanging out in the living room reading books, playing with babies, cooking in Blaire’s Minnie Mouse kitchen and dancing around like a family of crazies.
Favorite Foods: Blueberries, apple sauce, yogurt, juice, goldfish, black olives and cinnamon life cereal. She is obsessed with dipping… ketchup, ranch and salsa are her current faves.
Biggest Milestone: She got her very own big girl (toddler) bed in January! Back in November when she was sick, she would only fall asleep with one of us and we haven’t broken her of that habit yet. She was doing so well falling asleep on her own for months and months and now we have to start over. We can usually get her to fall asleep in her bed at the beginning of the night, but she ends up in our bed by midnight. Fine with mama, because I love nighttime cuddles!
We are currently planning Blaire’s second birthday party. It’s Minnie Mouse themed and we just KNOW she will love it! xo
My little girl is 21 months. She’s almost 2-years-old! I can’t believe it. Where has this time gone? These past few months she has been learning lots of new words. She says, “I don’t know.” approximately 25 times each day. She also says “oh no”, “please” and “thank you”. Two of her current favorite words are mom and mama. She has decided she likes to call Jason mama sometimes, too. While we were in Savannah in October she said “mom and dad” and it was THE. CUTEST. She does really well playing puzzles, and even likes playing puzzles on her iPad. She is also fully working the mullet these days. ;)
Someone was really loving her newly rearranged room for her 21 month pictures. Look at all those teeth! She’s getting her 14th & 15th teeth in right now and has been a champ about it. She is still weighing in at 25.5 lbs and is wearing mostly 24 months, with an occasional 18 month or 2T. Blaire, you are so much fun! Whether it’s playing with baby dolls or having a crazy dance party, there is a never a dull moment with you. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
How much do you love baby mullets? Happy Wednesday! xo
